Electrical Designer (Orlando, Florida) Position Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Designer (Orlando, Florida) with a strong background in value engineering and electrical construction project bids. The ideal candidate will work closely with estimating teams, project managers, and engineers to analyze electrical designs, optimize costs, and enhance constructability while maintaining quality and compliance. This role plays a critical part in winning competitive bids by identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising performance.

Electrical Designer Responsibilities:

  • Review bid documents, electrical drawings, and specifications to identify potential design efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with estimators to provide accurate take-offs, cost analysis, and scope clarifications.
  • Develop and modify electrical design drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software.
  • Recommend material substitutions, design alternatives, and constructability improvements.
  • Ensure designs comply with NEC, NFPA, IBC, and local electrical codes while optimizing efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, value engineering proposals, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure constructability.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, RFIs, and client presentations as needed.


Electrical Designer Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in electrical design for construction, with a focus on value engineering and estimating support.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and estimating tools like Accubid or Trimble.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to balance cost, performance, and constructability.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with engineers, estimators, and contractors.
