Low Voltage Electrical Estimator (Boston, Massachusetts) Position Overview:

The Low Voltage Electrical Estimator (Boston, Massachusetts) prepares accurate cost estimates for low-voltage electrical systems, including structured cabling, security systems, fire alarms, audio-visual systems, and other related technologies. This role involves analyzing project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to assess material, labor, and time requirements to ensure successful project bidding and completion.

Low Voltage Electrical Estimator Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other documents to prepare cost estimates.
  • Perform material takeoffs and labor estimates for low-voltage systems such as structured cabling, data networks, CCTV, access control, fire alarms, and audio-visual systems.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align estimates with project goals and requirements.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions to ensure a complete understanding of project scope.
  • Maintain detailed records of all estimates, revisions, and project documentation.
  • Provide regular updates to management on the status of estimates and bid results.
  • Analyze and report discrepancies between estimated and actual project costs to refine future estimates.
  • Understand and comply with relevant building codes, safety standards, and regulations.


Low Voltage Electrical Estimator Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in low-voltage electrical estimation or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successful bids in commercial, industrial, or residential projects.
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage systems and their installation requirements.
  • Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Accubid, Esticom, or similar tools).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or other design tools (preferred).
